dc.description.abstract The methodology of the study relied on historical‑cultural, discursive‑an-alytical, and hermeneutic approaches, on elements of narrative analysis, and the method of visual semiotics. Results and conclusions. During the study it was established that the mentioned films constituted a kind of visual historiography, oriented toward the reconstruction of key stages of Ukrainian history of the 20th century, namely the Holodomor, the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, the activity of figures of the Ukrainian national movement, and religious leadership. Particular attention was focused on the integration of documentary sources – archives, memoirs, court protocols – into the structure of the feature film. As a result, it was determined that these films, as a form of creativity, contributed to the strengthening of cultural memory and the visualization of the idea of national historical continuity, and that these works served as a platform for public dialogue regarding the rethinking of Soviet historiography. The writer sought to convey his many years of professional experience, using his own works as analytical material in the study of the stated problem. The films of the writer of this article were awarded prizes at international film festivals, and were also acquired for public screenings in countries around the world, which contributed to the dissemination of information both about Ukraine’s historical progress and about prominent figures of its cultural and political spheres. The author’s directorial and organizational experience also formed the basis of his own pedagogical teaching programs, which contain effective methods of influence and assimilation of practical material for students. uk_UA
